To our valued “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® customers. As the first, this will be a long one. Future newsletters will be briefer. I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that from now we will be producing a quarterly newsletter which we will publish on our web page (www.sweetpork.com.au) along with a stop press for urgent items. This way we can keep you up to date with the latest developments of The Sweet Pork Company and its product, “Bangalow Sweet Pork”®. A brief history of The Sweetpork Company and "Bangalow Sweet Pork”® The Sweet Pork Company commenced operations on 19th October 1999, after some 18 months of research and development of “Bangalow Sweet Pork”®. A small group of Far North Coast NSW farmers decided that they had had enough of producing pork that was generally not nice to eat. Our Technical Director, Jim Berting BSc Agric., set to work to develop the nutritional, genetic and management structure to produce pork which has all the qualities to delight the most discerning palate. The result, an outstanding “eating quality” pork, which has a delicate flavour, tenderness and juiciness. Several bonuses come with the package. “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® is hormone and antibiotic free, and wait for it, the fat in “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® is 63% unsaturated (my cardiac specialist said he would have no hesitation recommending our product to his patients, and as with all other recommendations, in moderation).Those of us who eat and enjoy “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® know that moderation is a difficult discipline to maintain. Where have we come in those few short years? We now have distribution in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Northern Rivers of NSW, Tweed Heads south to Coffs Harbour, Newcastle and Sydney metropolitan area. Soon to be developed areas: Coffs Harbour south to Bulladelah, South Australia (Adelaide south to Victor Harbour), Melbourne and Canberra. If you would like to have “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® in a butcher shop or restaurant near you, please contact us on freecall 1800 73 6606 and with your help we will work to achieve this goal. With the cooperation, hard work and dedication of our food service distributors, restaurateurs and chefs we now have “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® on the menus of many excellent restaurants in the distribution area. If it is not on the menu of your favourite restaurant, let us know and we will let them in on the secret. If they will not put it on for you, you may need to consider withdrawing your patronage. It’s that good! David Jones Food Hall – Sydney Most of you will most probably have read in the press or seen on the television about the reopening of DJ’s Food Hall in their Castlereagh Street Store after a major refurbishment. The David Jones Food Hall will reopen on Monday 25th August 2003, and we are happy to inform you that “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® Ham will be on sale there. In the near future there will be fresh cuts, smallgoods and gourmet sausages that will tantalise your taste buds. This range of “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® products will shortly also be available at DJ’s Bondi Junction Food Hall. Our sincere thanks go to David Jones for their endorsement of the superior quality of “Bangalow Sweet Pork”®. Your support of the David Jones outlets will be appreciated. Where to from here? It has been a long hard row to hoe; however, we now clearly see our forward direction. The strong support of our discerning consumers gives us great confidence for the future. All concerned with the development of “Bangalow Sweet Pork”®, our dedicated producers (who have had to endure extreme costs resulting from the crippling drought), our management team, and last but not least our long suffering investors, who have waited longingly for the positive result which is now before us, have asked me to pass on their sincere appreciation. Our high quality butchers and food service distributors and restaurants have contributed enormously to the success of “Bangalow Sweet Pork”®. Our appreciation for your support is difficult to express. DNA testing and monitoring. Your will note that throughout this newsletter I have referred to our product as “Bangalow Sweet Pork”®. For those of you who are not already aware, “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® is a registered trademark. We have taken this step to protect the integrity of the product. “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® has been described by many as the best “eating quality” pork available in Australia and some international chefs have flattered us by telling us it is the best “eating quality” pork in the world. Keep it up, we love the pats on the back. To protect the interests of our consumers, producers, our company, food service distributors, butchers, chefs and restaurants, we are in the process of putting into place a DNA testing regime. This will ensure that all concerned will be guaranteed of getting the genuine article, every time. If at any time any of you feel that our product and brand name is being misrepresented, please inform us immediately and we will move swiftly to protect the integrity of “Bangalow Sweet Pork”®. Media Launch If you are a media person and would like an invitation, contact us quickly as this event is strictly invitation only and numbers are limited. Well known Sydney chef, Stefano Manfredi will be showcasing “Bangalow Sweet Pork”®. New Products. We continue to develop a wider range of smallgoods and gourmet sausages. Watch this space for the latest. If you have an idea run it by us. You never know, if you get lucky you could even win a prize! Chefs’ favourites and favourite chefs. We are encouraging our chef customers to submit their favourite “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® recipes for publication on our Web site. Watch out for them, and where possible, visit the restaurants that have their recipes published and make yourselves known to the chef. Friends of “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® It is our intention to encourage a “Bangalow Sweet Pork”® family. We have been very much encouraged by the support of consumers who delight in the product.
